16 bit Freeware

I wrote and used to support two shareware programs, Dupe and Bloat. It is no longer
worth my while processing registrations, so I have made them freeware. I don't have the
compiler I used to build them installed any more, so to get rid of the nag screens you
will need the registration program.
Dupe is a file deduplicator program, which searches one
or more disks for duplicate files and helps you get rid of them.
Bloat displays the disk space taken up by the
directories on a disk and is useful for finding those which are bloating out.
Both of these are 16 bit windows programs. As far as I know they both work on Windows
95 and NT, but they don't understand long file names. I have no plans to produce 32 bit
versions of these programs. If you want 32 bit versions I recommend that you obtain
programs such as Dupeless
and TreeSize.
I occasionally get requests for the sources of Dupe. It was my first attempt at an
object oriented program and the style is, frankly, too embarrassing to let anyone else see
it. If you want to get some ideas from a program of this type then
Dupeless by
Neil Rubenking comes with Delphi source code which is far more comprehensible.
dO YOU EVER TYPE WITH THE cAPS lOCK kEY DOWN BY ACCIDENT? If you use Windows 3 or
Windows 95 you might find this useful. It is free and makes
the Caps Lock work sensibly. I haven't yet had time to rewrite it to work right under NT.
